Direct Access Scheme (DAS) Modular Test Training
(Category A licence) and Accelerated Access (AAS)Modular Test Training
Click for info.
Pre-Course Requirements You will need the following:
|
Note: A Theory Test Certificate is not required if you have already passed a 2 part moped test or a 2 part test for a lower category of motorcycle on or after the 1st of July 1996. |
Also: If you are taking an Accelerated Access course you do not need to present a CBT Certificate or a Theory test Certificate as you already have a full Category A Licence albeit restricted to 33.3 bhp. |
Our DAS test training courses can be taken over three, four, five or six days and longer if needed depending on your riding experience and ability with the tests taking place only when the candidate is ready and properly prepared. When you
book your training you will be given a provisional Module 1 test date and time and the course dates which will precede
your test date. You will train for both Module 1 and Module 2 in the period leading up to your Module 1 test with an emphasis on this during the period of training immediately prior to your test slot. The Module 2 test will be taken on the
final day of your course. |
DAS Conversion |
Unless riding you own machine, you will be riding one of our Kawasaki ER 5’s, a 500cc machine with a power output of 50 bhp. |

Module 1 Test Training |
Due to the difference in size, power and weight of your bike, the first part of your Direct Access
course will be spent getting to know the differences between the big bike in comparison with the
smaller bike which you rode for your Compulsory Basic Training. Getting used to the
bike is very important to establish confidence and control. You will work with your instructor off road
to learn the necessary skills to manoeuvre the bike slowly as if moving in traffic and emerging at
junctions. You will also simulate a U turn, ride a slalom and be taught how to bring the bike to a controlled stop as
in an emergency. |
Your instructor will spend whatever time is necessary for you to acquire these skills
before you go out onto the road as they are the foundations for the rest of your training and your safety whilst riding. |
How much training do I need to pass the tests?
If you already have some riding experience (for example, you have been gaining riding experience on your CBT Certificate for a few months) then this on-road experience is useful preparation for your Module 2 training however, without the correct amount of training for the Module 1 test, the chances of passing it are virtually nil. |
Novice riders
considering going straight from Compulsory Basic Training to Test Training without any other practice time in between would be
encouraged to take the four day course as a minimum and five or six day course if needed. Novice riders should also expect the first stages
of their instruction to include riding a 125cc bike to establish their control skills and road skills before being introduced to the larger
machine. Your instructor will identify any weaknesses in your riding to determine your training needs to reach test standard. |
Module 1 Test |
Module 1 Test |
On the day of your Module 1 test you will need to show the examiner your CBT Certificate*, your Theory Test Certificate* and both parts of your driving licence (paper counterpart and photo card). If you have and old style paper licence you will need to show your passport as proof of identity. *not needed if taking Accelerated Access test |
Congratulations Maz, DAS Test Pass
|
When you have passed your Module 1 you will have up to a maximum of two years in which to take and pass your Module 2 test unless your theory test expires prior to the expiry date of your Module 1 certificate. Once you have successfully passed both modules you can ride without L plates, carry a pillion passenger and ride on a motorway and will be able to ride any size of bike. If you fail your test don’t worry. Your instructor will explain any areas of your riding that need further attention from the feedback received from the examiner and your test report. You will have another opportunity to retake the test. If you are naturally nervous when taking tests, try to think of your motorcycle test as an opportunity to show the examiner the skills you have learnt … rather than thinking “I’m being tested”. |
